The Environmental Division of the Great American Insurance Group provides a comprehensive portfolio of environmental insurance products to a broad array of industries.  All products can be customized to address the specific risks and exposures of the client.

Environmental Insurance - Great American Insurance Group We are looking for an Underwriter Trainee to join our Exton, PA, Boston, MA, or New York City office. Employees are expected to maintain a meaningful on-site presence to support collaboration, relationship building, and business success.
** Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
*** Participates in activities related to risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives.
* Review, summarize, and interpret environmental reports, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase I Site Investigations, and other technical documents.
* Works with the underwriting team to learn how to price business, analyze coverage and how to develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers.
* Learns to assess risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and to initiate appropriate loss prevention actions.
* Learns to use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
* Participates in visiting agents, brokers, and producers with a more senior underwriter and learns to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships, and develop new opportunities in support of divisional objectives.
* Learns to interpret, explain, and market products and services.
* Learns to apply underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
** Job Requirements
*** Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or a related discipline, ideally with an environmental focus.
* Generally, 0-2 years of insurance or environmental consulting experience is preferred.
* Strong MS Office skills and must be good with technology.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* The ideal candidate will be a recent science or engineering graduate or an early-career environmental professional.

* * Salary Range:**$60,000.00 -$75,000.00
