The Premium Waiver Ability Specialist primarily investigates claims for Life Insurance Waiver of Premium but also may be responsible for claim investigations of Permanent Total Disability or Disability Extension claims. As a Premium Waiver Ability Specialist, you will collaborate with claimants, physicians, and employers to gather necessary medical and coverage information. In addition, the selected candidate shall work closely with the claimant to explain all policy benefits.
The Premium Waiver Ability Specialists also partner with resources in the Long Term Disability department, and Medical/Vocational Case Managers. Through careful evaluation and cross-functional collaboration, the Ability Analysts are able to gather and analyze critical and complex medical information which allows them to properly evaluate an individual's ability to perform functional work.
- Work with internal and external customers to retrieve and relay information relevant to Premium Waiver
- Gather information, make sound decisions, and draw appropriate conclusions using critical thinking and mathematical aptitude
- Provide exceptional customer service using professional written and verbal communication skills
- Leverage sound business knowledge and subject matter expertise to make claim decisions
- Ensure claim adjudication is based on ethical evaluations and sound analysis
- Maintain a dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
- Help to create a positive team environment that achieves Group Benefit Claims Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and objectives
- Minimum of 2 years Long Term Disability experience is preferred
- Working familiarity with the THAA and or LCS/DCS claim system is preferred
- Working knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated passion for delivering excellence in customer experience
- Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities
- Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptionally detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high-level of quality and accuracy
This position offers a Hybrid or Remote work schedule:
Candidates located near one of the company's office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday)
Candidates who do not live near an office location may work fully Remote, with occasional in-office presence as business needs require.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
