Catholic Mutual Group (CMG) is the leading provider of property, liability, and employee benefit coverage and related services for the Catholic Church across the United States and Canada. We are currently seeking an Underwriting Manager to join our team at our home office in Omaha, NE.

Position Overview

The Underwriting Manager provides leadership and oversight for Catholic Mutual Group's multi-line underwriting operations. This position is responsible for evaluating new and renewal business opportunities, approving risk selection and acceptance decisions, determining appropriate coverage and pricing, and supporting the continued growth and profitability of the organization. The ideal candidate brings extensive property and casualty underwriting experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external business partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the daily activities of the multi-line underwriting department
  • Review and analyze new business submissions and renewal opportunities
  • Approve risk selection, acceptance, coverage recommendations, and pricing decisions
  • Manage underwriting performance and support profitable book of business growth
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to underwriting staff
  • Evaluate complex risks and make informed underwriting decisions based on company guidelines
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal departments and external service partners
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of underwriting policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible property and casualty underwriting experience and managing a book of business
  • Three years of supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • CPCU and/or AU designation highly preferred
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a leadership role
