About Open Train
Open Train AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this opportunity and the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. Open Train helps professionals create a credible AI training portfolio, discover specialized projects, and apply in minutes.
- Free account creation
- A profile designed to showcase relevant professional expertise
- Remote opportunities across the growing AI training industry
AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Subject-matter experts create realistic examples, write reference answers, and evaluate model responses so AI systems can reason more accurately and reliably.
In this role, your surety knowledge will help train models on specialized insurance and credit reasoning rather than general hazard underwriting. Your judgment can directly improve how AI handles bond analysis, underwriting decisions, and contractor default scenarios.
- Remote, flexible work that can fit around other commitments
- A chance to apply professional expertise to cutting-edge AI systems
- Work focused on written reasoning and evaluation of model outputs
Open Train is seeking a Surety Underwriting and Bond Review Specialist to develop high-quality surety reasoning data. You will design realistic bonding, credit-analysis, and bond-claim scenarios, produce experienced-professional reference responses, and assess AI-generated answers against established surety standards.
The work centers on contractor capacity, obligee requirements, bond forms, indemnity and collateral, and realistic default resolution. It requires distinguishing surety credit decisions from property-casualty risk underwriting and ordinary claim adjudication.
- Pay: $80 per hour after onboarding
- Onboarding: $800 flat payment, estimated at approximately 10 hours
- Time commitment:
At least 20 hours per week - Work arrangement:
Remote contract, part-time
You will combine practical surety underwriting, bond production, claims, or contract-surety credit experience with careful written analysis. Your work will help identify where AI responses demonstrate sound professional judgment and where they misunderstand financial, contractual, or claims issues.
- Design scenarios involving bid, performance, payment, commercial, court, and fiduciary bonds
- Analyze single and aggregate capacity, work in progress, contractor financial statements, indemnity, and collateral
- Produce capacity recommendations, credit analyses, bond approvals and declinations, obligee form reviews, and claim-resolution strategies
- Write high-quality reference responses reflecting experienced surety-professional judgment
- Grade AI-generated responses for credit judgment, capacity reasoning, contract and bond-form accuracy, and default-resolution realism
- Identify overstated capacity, misread financial statements, mishandled obligee requirements, and confusion between surety and insurance obligations
- Provide written feedback to improve model behavior and reasoning quality
This is a specialized professional role. Candidates should have at least two years of relevant experience and be able to explain surety decisions clearly in writing. Experience may come from surety underwriting, bond production, surety claims, or contract-surety credit analysis.
- At least two years of professional experience in surety underwriting, bond production, surety claims, or contract-surety credit analysis
- Experience with at least one bond category, including contract, commercial, court and fiduciary, license and permit, or subdivision bonds
- Ability to interpret contractor financial statements and work-in-progress schedules and translate them into capacity and credit conclusions
- Understanding of the three-party surety relationship and the distinctions among indemnity, collateral, subrogation, and insurance loss payment
- Excellent written reasoning, commercial judgment, and attention to detail
- Ability to distinguish surety credit decisions from property-casualty risk underwriting and ordinary claim adjudication
The following experience or credentials can further support success in the role, although they are described as helpful rather than required.
- AFSB, CPCU, ARM, CPA, or a comparable designation
- Experience combining underwriting and surety claims
- Review of AIA or other standard bond forms
- Experience with public-works statutory bond requirements
- Experience resolving contractor defaults through takeover, tender,…
