As the Sr Actuary – Filings Transformation Leader, you will lead a multi-year effort to centralize, simplify, and scale rate filing processes across Commercial Lines, Excess & Surplus, Specialty, and Nationwide Agribusiness. This is an opportunity for an experienced P&C actuary to improve how filing work gets done, enable more consistent execution, and help teams accelerate to a “build once, use many” operating model.
What you’ll do
- Lead the current-state filings capability while defining and executing a long-term filings transformation roadmap.
- Direct a team of Actuarial Associates ongoing filings/reporting and implementation work, providing structure, prioritization, coaching, and delivery oversight.
- Partner across Pricing, Legal, Product, Government Relations, Technology, and Departments of Insurance to improve efficiency, quality, and regulatory responsiveness.
- Identify opportunities to use automation, artificial intelligence, and modern analytical tools to improve processes and convert filing information into scalable business insights for profitability reviews.
- Establish strong peer-review and governance practices, resolve process gaps, and promote consistent actuarial standards across portfolios.
- Translate complex actuarial analysis into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical senior leaders.
- Represent Nationwide’s position with regulators, auditors, and external partners when needed.

We are looking for a change-oriented, solutions-focused actuary who understands insurance filings and has been motivated to make the process better. The strongest candidates will bring:
- Deep experience with P&C actuarial work, insurance rate filings, or related regulatory processes; commercial lines or personal lines experience may be relevant.
- An actuarial credential required for filing signatory responsibilities, generally an FCAS or equivalent qualification.
- The ability to connect actuarial judgment, regulatory requirements, data, technology, and business strategy.
- A track record of leading through ambiguity, influencing without relying solely on authority, and moving complex work from concept to delivery.
- A constructive sense of urgency and resilience to improve processes that have developed over time.
