The BTIS Workers Compensation department is currently looking for an Associate who shares our drive for greatness.
In this role, you’ll play a pivotal role in the success of our New Business Underwriting Team. This role is ideal for an individual looking to build a career in commercial insurance while developing expertise in workers' compensation underwriting.
- Underwrite New Business Review, evaluate, and underwrite Workers’ Compensation new business submissions in accordance with carrier guidelines, underwriting authority, and department service standards. Assess eligibility, determine appropriate pricing, and recommend coverage terms and conditions. Maintain production and service goals while ensuring underwriting quality and accuracy.
- Analyze and Assess Risk Review risk characteristics, classification codes, payroll exposures, loss history, and experience modifications. Apply underwriting judgment to identify risk factors and support profitable business decisions. Gather and evaluate information from multiple sources to ensure complete and accurate risk assessment.
- Deliver Exceptional Customer Service Respond to agent inquiries via phone and email with professionalism, urgency, and a solution-oriented mindset. Build and maintain positive relationships with agency partners by providing knowledgeable, timely service. Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively.
- 2+ years of recent Workers’ Compensation customer service or underwriting support experience, preferably in a carrier, MGA, or agency environment.
- Solid understanding of Workers’ Compensation concepts, including class codes, experience mods, loss runs, and basic underwriting principles.
- Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks effectively, multitask with ease, and maintain discipline in a remote work environment, ensuring productivity and meeting performance expectations.
