Consulting Actuary (Remote – U.S.)
Taylor & Mulder is a fast-growing independent property & casualty actuarial consulting firm seeking an FCAS with 10+ years of experience to join our fully remote consulting team. We provide actuarial services to a wide variety of public and private sector clients and are looking for actuaries who enjoy solving challenging problems, working across diverse projects, and contributing to a collaborative, close-knit team.
WhatYou’ll Do
You’ll evaluate a broad range of actuarial models—including pricing, rate making, reserving/loss triangles, and predictive rating models contained in regulatory filings across many lines of business.
Your work will include:- Reviewing complex statistical models, rating plans, rules, rates, and relativities in insurance rate filings
- Pricing and reserving analyses
- Financial examinations
- Self-insurance studies
- Expert witness support
- Ad hoc analyses across a wide variety of actuarial consulting projects
Required Qualifications
- FCAS designation
- 10+ years of actuarial experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Natural curiosity and initiative to solve complex actuarial problems
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Word skills
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts, GLMs, and general statistical modeling
- Understanding of P&C insurance regulations and the regulatory process
- Experiencing reviewing and/or preparing rate filings for product launches, revisions, rating plans, etc.
- Experience across multiple lines of business and actuarial disciplines (rate making, reserving, etc.)
- Interest in business development and building client relationships
- Naturally curious
