Role Description

The Agency Development Manager is a contract role responsible for growing and supporting Colonial Life’s agency operations in West Virginia, United States, in a hybrid work environment that combines on-site and work-from-home activities. In this role, the individual oversees agency recruitment, onboarding, and development of sales representatives, ensuring they understand product offerings, compliance requirements, and sales processes. The manager collaborates with local leadership to set sales targets, develop territory strategies, and monitor performance metrics, providing coaching and feedback to help teams meet their goals.

Day-to-day tasks include conducting training sessions, participating in client and broker meetings, coordinating enrollment activities, and maintaining strong relationships with employers and other partners. The role also involves reporting on agency performance, identifying growth opportunities, and implementing best practices to improve productivity and client service.

Qualifications
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or employee benefits, with a strong understanding of workplace benefits and agency operations.
  • Proven track record in sales leadership, business development, or team management, including setting goals, coaching, and performance monitoring.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with agents, employers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing time between field visits, office work in West Virginia, and remote collaboration.
  • Solid organizational and planning skills, including proficiency with basic office software and comfort using digital tools for reporting, training, and enrollment support.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the insurance or benefits industry is preferred.
  • Current or obtainable insurance producer license in West Virginia or Pennslyvania (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
