Job Details

We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage an established portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, build strong client relationships, and deliver customized insurance solutions to meet each client’s unique needs. This position plays an important role in client retention, account growth, and providing exceptional service throughout the policy lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, providing responsive, accurate, and proactive service.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their business operations, risk exposures, and insurance needs.
  • Serve as the primary contact for client questions, policy changes, renewals, and claims-related matters.
  • Conduct periodic account reviews to identify changing exposures and recommend appropriate coverage adjustments.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts through additional coverage and insurance products.
  • Prepare and submit complete, accurate applications and supporting documentation to insurance carriers.
  • Negotiate coverage terms, conditions, and premiums with carriers to secure appropriate insurance programs.
  • Prepare and present insurance proposals, renewal options, and coverage recommendations.
  • Lead renewal meetings, review renewal outcomes, and communicate coverage changes and recommendations.
  • Manage the renewal process, including ordering and reviewing loss runs, evaluating current coverage, and coordinating program adjustments.
  • Review policies, binders, invoices, endorsements, and commissions for accuracy and consistency.
  • Issue and review Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Review client contracts for insurance requirements and recommend appropriate coverage provisions or modifications.
  • Process policy changes, coordinate endorsements, and follow through on outstanding documentation and final policy reviews.
  • Provide claims support and advocacy by assisting with claim reporting, monitoring claim progress, and communicating updates and resolutions to clients.
  • Conduct claims reviews with clients, explain claim outcomes, and coordinate follow-up actions as needed.
  • Coordinate the ordering and receipt of Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) and loss runs.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation within the agency management system.
  • Partner with producers, underwriters, and internal teams on new business opportunities, renewals, and account retention strategies.
  • Assist with onboarding new accounts to ensure a smooth transition and proper coverage implementation.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee assigned support staff, maintaining service quality and adherence to agency procedures.
  • Stay informed of insurance industry developments, carrier guidelines, and regulatory changes affecting commercial accounts.
  • Attend occasional client meetings and industry events, with limited travel as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2–10 years of Property & Casualty insurance experience, preferably in commercial lines account management.
  • College-level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance policies, coverage options, renewals, and client service practices.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, preparing submissions, negotiating terms, and reviewing policy documentation.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and service.
