Customer Service & Insurance Support – Agent Internship

This position is designed for someone interested in learning the insurance business, developing their sales and leadership skills, and gaining hands‑on experience with the goal of potentially pursuing the opportunity to become a State Farm independent contractor agent in the future.
About the RoleAs an Agent Intern
, you'll gain hands‑on experience in the day-to-day operation of a State Farm agency while working directly with customers and our team.
You’ll help current customers with their insurance needs, answer questions, build relationships, and identify opportunities where additional coverage may help better protect them. You’ll also gain experience discussing products such as auto, home, and life insurance while developing the customer service, sales, and business skills that are important to running a successful insurance agency.

- Greet and assist customers in person and over the phone.
- Help customers with questions, policy needs, and service requests.
- Build strong relationships with current and prospective customers.
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate insurance products and coverage options.
- Have conversations about additional protection, including life insurance.
- Manage incoming inquiries and maintain accurate customer records.
- Follow up with customers and prospects.
- Support the team with administrative responsibilities and special projects.
- Learn the day-to-day operations of running a successful insurance agency.
- Previous customer service or sales experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable starting conversations with customers.
- Organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Comfortable discussing insurance products and identifying opportunities to help customers with additional coverage.
- Interested in professional growth, leadership, sales, and potentially pursuing State Farm agency ownership in the future.
- Property & Casualty insurance licensing is required before your start date. You do not need to be licensed when applying, and we will help guide you through the licensing process.
- $30,000 guaranteed base salary plus commission.
- Expected total compensation of $40,000-$70,000 per year
, based on performance. - Hands-on training and mentorship directly inside a State Farm agency.
- Experience in customer service, insurance sales, business development, and agency operations.
