Position: Video-Phone Interpreter

Pay: $15 - $17 per hour. Actual hourly rate is dependent on location, experience, and work availability.

Position Overview

The Albanian Video-Telephone-Interpreter is responsible for handling calls on demand and renders the meaning of conversations between Albanian and English speakers. The interpreter serves across industries Language Line Solutions supports, including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.

The interpreter processes information quickly and communicates in a professional and culturally sensitive manner, using appropriate terminology and industry procedures. Sessions may involve simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects. This position does not involve written translation; translators and other skilled linguists may apply. The interpreter translates verbally. This is a remote position; the interpreter works from a home office and should provide a quiet and secure environment.

Job Functions
  • Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Participate in online, video and audio training sessions.
  • Deliver interpretation services via video and type data on a dedicated device (e.g., laptop, desktop, mobile, or tablet) to perform essential functions.
  • Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation conventions, avoiding omissions or additions.
  • Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions.
  • Remain calm during sessions, especially in emergency situations such as 911 calls.
  • Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
  • Follow client instructions and protocol to meet client expectations with LEP listeners, avoiding interaction without client permission.
  • Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law.
  • Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
  • Some calls may be highly emotional or stressful; be able to remain on a call for extended periods and manage high call volumes while maintaining service quality.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in Albanian and English and familiarity with associated cultural dynamics.
  • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to communicate effectively with LEP.
  • Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain high accuracy during interpretation.
  • Ability to concentrate, stay neutral, and remain objective on calls involving sensitive subjects.
