Position: Video-Phone Interpreter
Pay: $18 - $21 per hour. Actual rate depends on location, experience, and availability.

The French Video-Telephone Interpreter is responsible for handling on-demand calls and rendering the meaning of conversations between French and English speakers. The interpreter supports a wide range of industries served by Language Line Solutions:
Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
The interpreter processes information quickly, concisely, and with awareness of cultural differences. The interpreter maintains professionalism and uses appropriate terminology, following established interpretation protocols. Sessions may involve simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects.
This position does not involve written translation; translators and other skilled linguists are encouraged to apply. The interpreter translates verbally. This is a remote position; the interpreter works from a home office and should ensure a quiet and secure environment.
Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)- Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
- Participate in online, video and audio training sessions.
- Deliver interpretation services via video and type data on a dedicated device (laptop, desktop, mobile, or tablet) to perform essential job functions.
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and courteous phrasing.
- Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions.
- Remain calm in emergency situations (e.g., 911) when speakers are incoherent or upset.
- Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
- Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to ensure client expectations are met, avoiding LEP interaction without client permission.
- Understand protocol and terminology across industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law.
- Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
- Note:
Some calls may be highly emotional or stressful; extended calls or high volumes may occur. The interpreter must maintain company service standards in this dynamic environment.
- Fluency in French and English, with knowledge of cultural dynamics.
- Ability to assess regional and accent differences to facilitate communication with LEP individuals.
- Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain high accuracy during interpretation.
