Position Overview

Language Line Solutions is hiring a Bilingual Abkhaz‑English Phone Interpreter to work from home. The role is an independent contractor position with pay ranging from $0.75 to $0.90 per minute.

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions; remain calm when primary speakers appear incoherent or upset, especially during emergency situations such as 911 calls.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours; follow client instructions in compliance with protocol.
• Observe client-provided policies, including avoiding interaction with the Limited English‑speaking Person (LEP) without client permission.
• Apply industry terminology and protocols for sectors such as medical, insurance, finance, and law.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment, including handling highly emotional or stressful calls.
• Remain on calls for extended periods without breaks during high volume periods.

• Fluency in Abkhaz and English, with strong cultural competency and the ability to assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate, remain neutral and objective, and stay detached from sensitive conversations.
• Experience handling sensitive subject matter such as end‑of‑life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and gender expression.
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; education or experience in language‑related fields (teaching, assessment, translation, or interpretation) preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States, with no future sponsorship required; must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficiency in reading and writing the requested languages is highly preferred.

• Internet connection with minimum download speed of 5

• Quiet workspace free from background noise or distractions.
• Ability to operate keyboard and mouse, type or otherwise, and use company software.

• Operate keyboard and mouse while remaining in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.
• Hand dexterity sufficient for typing or writing.
• Lift up to 26lbs.; exposure to moderate noise levels (computer, audio, telephone).
