Job Description
Language Line Solutions is hiring remote Dzongkha‑English phone interpreters. The role involves real‑time interpretation between Dzongkha and English for clients in healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911. The position is an independent contractor and does not qualify for employee benefits.

Pay: $0.80 ‑ $0.95 per minute
The Dzongkha Telephone Interpreter handles calls on demand, rendering meaning between Dzongkha and English speakers. The interpreter breaks the communication barrier in a wide range of industries, processes information quickly, concisely, and maintains cultural sensitivity. The role does not involve written translation.
Essential Job Functions- Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation professionally and courteously.
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
- Maintain professional demeanor throughout sessions, remaining calm during emergency or stressful calls and ensuring punctuality.
- Follow client instructions and protocol, restricting interactions with the limited‑English‑speaking person to client approval.
- Understand industry terminology for Medical, Insurance, Finance, and other relevant fields.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity.
- Fluency in Dzongkha and English, with an understanding of cultural dynamics.
- Strong listening, retention, and note‑taking skills for high accuracy.
- Ability to remain detached, neutral, and objective during sensitive subject matter.
- Preferred background in teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation.
- At least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States, and willing to undergo a background check and drug screen.
- High school diploma or equivalent; education preferred.
- Dedicated personal device (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) with Windows, MacOS, Chrome
OS, iOS, or Android. - Reliable high‑speed Internet (download ≥5
Mbps, upload ≥3
Mbps, ping ≤300ms, jitter ≤30ms). - Quiet, secure workspace free from background noise.
- Operate keyboard and mouse; remain stationary in front of a computer for the majority of the day.
- Typing or writing manual dexterity sufficient for the role.
- Ability to lift up to 26lbs.
- Tolerance for moderate noise levels from computer, audio, or telephone.
