Position Overview

Job Title:

Catalan Interpreter (Phone Interpreter) – Work at Home, United States, Independent Contractor. Pay: $0.75 – $0.90 per minute.

Independent contractor, not eligible for employee benefits.

• Respond promptly to interpretation sessions and conduct the session in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings following established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions and remain calm, especially in emergency situations such as 911 calls.
• Follow client instructions, ensuring client expectations are met with the LEP and avoid unauthorized interaction.
• Understand and use terminology for industries including Healthcare, Insurance, Finance, Law, Government, and Commercial sectors.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability in a diverse environment.
• Handle highly emotional or stressful calls, remaining on call for extended periods without breaks when required, and manage high call volumes.

• Fluency in Catalan and English, with cultural competency to assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills for high accuracy.
• Ability to remain detached, neutral, and objective during sensitive subjects such as end‑of‑life, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and sexual orientation or gender expression discussions.
• Preferably holds education or experience in language‑related fields (teaching, assessment, translation, interpretation).
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write both languages highly preferred.
• Adaptable to technology enhancements and client demands.
• Physical ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and computer, with manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 26lb.

• High‑speed Internet: download no less than 5

• Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.

• Maintain a stationary position at a computer for the majority of the workday.
• Operate company software and systems for all job aspects.
• Lift up to 26lb if necessary.
• Tolerate moderate noise levels (computer, audio, telephone).
