Job Title: Kaba Interpreter
Location: Work at Home (United States)
Status: Independent Contractor
Pay: $1.25 - $1.40 per minute

Language Line Solutions is hiring a Kaba‑English Phone Interpreter to provide on‑demand interpreting services from a home‑office. The interpreter will render conversations between Kaba and English speakers across a variety of industries, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate communication.

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions.
• Remain calm when a primary speaker is incoherent or upset, particularly during emergency situations such as 911 calls.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and protocol to meet expectations of the Limited English‑speaking Person (LEP), avoiding interaction with the LEP without client permission.
• Understand industry protocol and terminology for Medical, Insurance, Finance, Law and other sectors.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and diversity.
• Handle highly emotional or stressful calls, remaining on the call for extended periods if necessary, and manage high call volumes while meeting company service standards.

• Fluency in Kaba and English, with cultural competency skills.
• Ability to assess regional and accent differences and adapt communication strategies for the LEP.
• Excellent listening, retention and note‑taking skills for high‑accuracy interpretation.
• Capacity to concentrate, remain detached, neutral and objective during sensitive subjects such as end‑of‑life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and discussions of sexual orientation or gender expression.
• Education or work experience in language‑related fields (teaching, assessment, translation, interpretation) is preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements that improve service delivery.
• Age 18 years or older.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a higher education degree is an advantage.
• Not currently employed by a LLS client or an affiliated LLS business.
• Reading and writing proficiency in the requested languages is highly preferred.

• Operate keyboard and mouse, remaining in a stationary position for most of the workday.

• May be exposed to moderate noise levels from computer, audio or telephone equipment.
