Location: Missouri City (Hybrid / Flexible Work-from-Home Options)
Position SummaryThe Technical Service Representative serves as the primary technical interface between the company and key customers in the wide-web flexographic and gravure printing segments. This role specializes in water-based and solvent-based inks and coatings and is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, product implementation, and performance optimization.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure product success, resolve technical challenges, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support to customers using wide-web flexographic and gravure printing processes.
- Support the application and optimization of water-based and solvent-based inks and coatings.
- Conduct on-site troubleshooting, product evaluations, and performance assessments.
- Coordinate and execute press trials, product introductions, and technical audits.
- Collaborate with R&D, Sales, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to develop and implement customer-focused technical solutions.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, serving as a trusted technical advisor.
- Document technical activities, service reports, and customer interactions to support issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Support customer retention and business growth through exceptional technical service.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Printing Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience supporting wide-web flexographic and/or gravure printing operations.
- Hands‑on experience with water‑based and solvent‑based inks and coatings used in flexible packaging applications.
- Proven ability to manage customer‑facing technical projects and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong understanding of:
- Pressroom operations and processes
- Ink and substrate interactions
- Drying systems and surface treatments
- Color matching and color management
- Print troubleshooting and defect analysis
- Excellent communication, customer service, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 70%) to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and regional meetings.
- Experience with color management systems such as X-Rite.
- Knowledge of lamination, coating, and post‑print converting processes.
- Familiarity with VOC compliance requirements, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
