About The Opportunity
LILT is seeking culturally fluent In-Game Localization Specialists to ensure gaming titles resonate with players around the world. In this role, you will adapt in-game content linguistically and culturally, preserving the original tone, intent, and immersive experience across multiple languages and regions.
What You'll DeliverLocalize in-game text, UI, dialogue, subtitles, and narrative content for target languages while maintaining tone, style, and context.
Ensure cultural relevance and sensitivity by adapting content appropriately for regional audiences.
Review and edit localized content for accuracy, consistency, and quality.
Support the maintenance of glossaries, style guides, and terminology databases.
Work with localization QA teams to identify and resolve linguistic bugs in-game.
Provide feedback on localization pipelines and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality.
Coordinate with language teams
QualificationsNative-level fluency in the target language
ISO 17100 Certification Criteria:
A graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR
A graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR
5 years of full-time professional translation experience.
3+ years demonstrable experience in localizing in game video content.
In depth and practical understanding of the nuances and considerations of translating the following gaming content types:
UI/menus
Mission text
Non-Player Character (NPC) ambient dialogue
Locked cutscene subtitle blocks
Transcreation experience specifically within the gaming sector, translating NBA-related content for video games.
Familiarity with game engines and localization pipelines.
Knowledge of scripting formats (e.g., XML, JSON) is a plus.
Passion for video games, especially sports, action, or narrative-driven titles.

What to Consider Before ApplyingNot ideal as a full time job or primary income source. Work availability fluctuates with project demand, making this better suited as a supplemental income stream. As a 1099 contractor, you won't receive benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement contributions, and hours are not guaranteed.
Requires reliable availability and commitment. Once you accept a task, we expect quality work and on-time delivery. Most tasks require a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week. If your schedule is unpredictable, this may not be the right fit.
Geographic restrictions may apply. We cannot engage contractors in regions subject to international embargo or sanctions. As a 1099 contractor, you are solely responsible for your own tax obligations. We recommend consulting a tax professional before engaging.
