Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

Limited part-time, temporary. Hours and days vary based on admissions volume.

Live Zoom Interviewing:
Typically Monday–Thursday for roughly 3 hours in the afternoons.

Video Reviewing:
Expected benchmark pace of approximately 4 video submissions plus corresponding write‑ups/postcards per hour.

Note:

All time spent conducting live interviews, watching video submissions, drafting evaluations, and writing postcards is compensable working time and must be accurately recorded in the school's timekeeping system.

Job Purpose

Support the Admissions Team by conducting live conversational interviews with prospective students or evaluating submitted student video interviews, completing detailed evaluation write‑ups, and sending personalized thank‑you postcards for each applicant. Live Zoom interviews serve as an opportunity to learn about student interests, passions, and questions regarding Urban. Video submissions serve as an opportunity for prospective students to share more about themselves asynchronously.

Zoom Interviewing Duties

Engagement & Environment:
Engage actively and listen attentively. Maintain a quiet, well‑lit, professional home office space with consistent Wi‑Fi. (Use of background blur or standard virtual backgrounds is required).

Rapport & Demeanor:
Create a warm, welcoming tone that conveys respect and builds rapport. Ask open‑ended and thoughtful follow‑up questions. Maintain an objective, kind, and open‑minded approach.

Positive Representation & Boundaries:
Project genuine interest in learning about the student while remaining sensitive to any discomfort. Do not comment on an applicant's appearance or home setting, or ask questions that could cause discomfort.

Admissions Neutrality:
Never give false hope regarding admission decisions—interviewers do not make final admissions decisions. Ensure each student leaves with a positive impression of Urban.

Asynchronous Video Reviewing Duties

Video Evaluation:
Carefully watch and evaluate prospective student video submissions at the benchmark pace of roughly 4 videos (including corresponding write‑ups and postcards) per hour.

Objective Review:
Assess student content objectively against evaluation guidelines, treating every applicant's submission with consistent care and fairness.

Administrative & Confidentiality Responsibilities (All Duties)

Confidentiality:
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all applicant information, student identities, and evaluation notes.

Postcards:
Track student names and write/send personalized thank‑you postcards within 24 hours of completing a live interview or video review (all postcards and postage materials are provided by Urban) .

Written Summaries:
Complete and submit factual, detailed written summaries within 48 hours . Summaries must be objective, based on evidence from the interaction/video, and allow admissions file readers to draw their own conclusions.

Timekeeping:
Accurately log all time spent working—including live calls, video watching, prep time, writing summaries, and preparing postcards—in the school's electronic timekeeping platform.

Qualifications

Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to synthesize observations into concise, objective, and well‑written evaluations.

Demonstrated commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Computer literacy and proficiency with video conferencing tools (Zoom) and online platforms.

Strong preference given to candidates who are Urban alumni or who have a demonstrated history of involvement with the school community.

Must reside in and perform all work within California.
