ASL​/BASL Video Contributor – Remote Paid Project

About the Project

Data Force by Trans Perfect is looking for American Sign Language (ASL) and Black American Sign Language (BASL) signers across the United States to participate in a paid remote research project.

The goal of this project is to help make technology more accessible for everyone and promote greater inclusion of Deaf and signing communities in the development of future technologies.

Participants will record approximately 1,000 short ASL/BASL videos from home
, including phrases, numbers, finger spelling sequences, and conversational prompts.

Each recording is approximately 10 seconds long
. Completing the full set is expected to take approximately 10 hours in total
.

The project can be completed remotely from home using a compatible Apple device.

$700 USD for completing the project according to the study guidelines.

This is a project-based opportunity and not a full-time employment position.

To participate, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or older

• Be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or Black American Sign Language (BASL)

• Currently reside in the United States, excluding Texas, Illinois, and Washington

• Be able to understand written English instructions

• Be comfortable recording yourself on video

• Have a suitable environment at home for recording

• Have access to a compatible Apple device:

  • iPhone 12 or newer

  • iPad 9th Generation (2021) or newer

  • Mac Book with M1 chip or newer

  • iMac with M1 chip or newer

Your contribution will help support the development of technologies that better recognize and represent ASL, BASL, and diverse signing communities

You'll participate entirely from home, complete the recordings on your own schedule according to the project instructions, and receive $700 USD upon successful completion of the project according to the study guidelines.
