Family Law Attorney

Job Overview:
A Chicago-based family law firm is partnering with a legal recruitment agency to find a driven and seasoned attorney skilled in family law, particularly in handling financial and parenting disputes. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and prepared to take ownership of a robust caseload. This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative team with flexibility to work both remotely and in-office, while contributing to meaningful litigation in a supportive and socially engaged work environment.

Duties:

Represent clients in litigation concerning financial division and child-related matters

Manage a high-volume caseload independently with minimal supervision

Collaborate with other attorneys on drafting pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda

Support court-appointed roles such as Guardian ad Litem or Parenting Coordinator when needed

Conduct discovery, pre-trial preparation, and participate in hearings and trials

Participate in firm-wide projects and case strategy discussions

Maintain accurate case documentation and client communications

Requirements:

Experience in family law, with courtroom exposure

Proven ability to manage complex legal matters involving custody and asset distribution

Strong research, writing, and litigation skills

Demonstrated capacity for independent case handling

Commitment to deadlines and responsiveness to client needs

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois

Skills:

Advanced knowledge of Illinois family law statutes and procedures

Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation ability

High emotional intelligence and professionalism in sensitive client interactions

Strong organizational and time management skills

Comfortable with both in-office collaboration and remote workflow tools
