Downtown Toronto | Hybrid (Work from home)

$120,000–$130,000 Base | High-Volume Practice | Immediate Impact

The Opportunity

This is a role for a driven civil litigator who wants ownership, responsibility, and momentum. Our client is a growing Downtown Toronto law firm with a busy civil litigation practice. They are seeking a lawyer who is hungry to work files, push matters forward, and take accountability for progress. The practice is active and client-facing, with no shortage of work — what’s needed is someone who ensures files don’t stall.

If you are energized by moving matters ahead rather than watching them sit, this role is built for you.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
File Ownership & Litigation
  • Independently manage a high-volume civil litigation caseload
  • Handle Small Claims and Superior Court litigation matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, and settlement documentation
  • Attend court appearances as required
  • Identify next steps early to keep files advancing efficiently
Client Management
  • Act as the primary client contact on assigned files
  • Provide clear, practical advice and manage expectations
Practice Execution
  • Maintain strong organization, docketing, and follow-up discipline
  • Contribute to improving file flow and efficiency across the practice
Who This Role Is For:
This role is ideal for a lawyer who:
  • Is self-directed, motivated, and proactive
  • Is comfortable handling lots of active files at once
  • Enjoys practical, real-world litigation work
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of civil litigation experience in Ontario
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Hands-on experience with Small Claims and Superior Court
  • Proven ability to run files independently
What Success Looks Like
  • Files consistently move forward without reminders
  • Partners trust that files are being pushed and managed
  • You are known as someone who gets things done
Why This Role Works
  • Real autonomy and file ownership
  • Reasonable billing expectations
  • Hybrid work model in a central Toronto location
  • A steady pipeline of work
  • A practice that values execution over posturing
