Overview
Kilpatrick, a large international law firm, is seeking a Paralegal for our Litigation Department in our Houston office. This position will be part of our team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients. - Provides semi-autonomous, complex case support to attorneys in all phases of litigation including discovery, trial, and appeal.
- Assists attorneys with case development and strategy, client management, working closely with experts and co-counsel and may provide workflow coordination duties.
- Works under the direction of attorneys and/or Director of Administration and Legal Support and performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Supervises case workflow and case support.
- Investigates facts, court rules, and case law.
- Handles extensive document management.
- Assists with case preparation strategy.
- Drafts pleadings and files court documents.
- Assists in the preparation of motions and depositions.
- Initiates and monitors docketing with Compu Law system and monitors trial calendars.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of computer systems and programs including Word, Excel, DIALOG, Relativity, Concordance, Lexis/Nexis, e-mail and internet.
- Extensive knowledge of legal terminology, processes and definitions.
- Extensive knowledge of all phases of discovery and trial.
- Extensive knowledge of available legal resources and reference materials.
- Extensive knowledge of court rules and case law.

This is a full-time, regular position with a multi-faceted health benefit package including medical, dental, and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short term disability plans and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. The firm offers hybrid work schedules combining in-office work days as well as remote work days. The pay range for this position in Houston is $44.67 to $67.03 per hour.
