Position
We are seeking an attorney interested in public service to join the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission as a Special Agent in the Office of Administrative Law Judge. This rewarding position allows an attorney to serve as an adjudicator, negotiator, liaison, problem‑solver, and team player, enhancing your career as a presiding officer who metes out justice.
Description of WorkIn this role you will hear and write decisions on cases involving requests for payment arrangements and appeals from the Bureau of Consumer Services’ informal complaint decisions. You will also review written decisions of administrative law judges and suggest revisions or clarifications. Additional duties include: legal research, preparing legal memoranda, helping to prepare training and reference materials, making presentations, and serving on various intra‑ and inter‑bureau working groups.
WorkSchedule and Additional Information
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch
- Telework:
Part‑time work from home may be available after approval. Employees must report to the headquarters worksite daily unless telework eligibility is met and approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time. - Eligibility for telework requires a secure high‑speed internet connection and a workplace that is within a reasonable travel distance of headquarters and within Pennsylvania.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of professional legal experience and graduation from an accredited law school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants must be certified for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and must maintain membership on a continuous basis during employment.
