The job responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare for hearings, trials, proceedings and other tasks as assigned by two to three attorneys
- Research legal articles, regulations, medical records, and laws relevant to a case
- Assisting with case planning, development and management
- Entering your own time into the LEAP system for monthly billing, maintaining records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases
- Staying on top of all deadlines through use of Microsoft 365
- Interviewing clients and witnesses and preparing summaries of statements
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with clients both inside and outside of the office
- Organizing and maintaining legal documents, including case files, exhibits and depositions
- Filing legal documents with the appropriate court, government agency or opposing counsel
- Communicating with opposing counsel and other parties, clients, judicial administrative staff, and vendors
- Transmitting emails and correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials by electronic filing, mail, messenger, or fax in limited circumstances
- Approach newly assigned tasks thoughtfully and with seasoned acumen
- Certification or associate degree in paralegal studies
- 4-8 years paralegal experience
- Litigation experience required; family law and experience with medical records preferred
- Proven self-starter who can work well as a team member in providing clients with quality service in a fast-paced environment
- Investigative mind and strong research skills
- Possess strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in preparing legal reports
- Ability to organize and track overlapping tasks and assignments, with frequent priority changes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively
- Highest standard of professionalism and integrity
- Strong technical capability and working knowledge of legal database software
