Our high-volume immigration law firm is seeking an experienced, Florida-licensed immigration attorney to provide contract-based legal services on a per-task basis. This role focuses primarily on affirmative and defensive asylum matters, including preparation for and appearances at USCIS interviews and Immigration Court hearings, as well as limited consultation support.
This is an independent contractor position. Compensation is provided upon completion of assigned legal tasks.
Qualifications- Active Florida Bar license in good standing
- Demonstrated experience handling:
- Affirmative asylum matters before USCIS
- Defensive asylum matters in Immigration Court
- Fluency in both Spanish and English required
- Ability to conduct virtual appearances and collaborate remotely with legal staff
- Availability to attend in-person hearings or interviews when required by court or agency
- Conduct case review and strategy discussions with firm staff
- Lead client interview preparation meetings
- Appear telephonically or in person at USCIS asylum interviews
- Prepare for and appear at scheduled hearings
- Virtual appearances preferred when permitted; some in-person attendance may be required
- Conduct full case review and preparation with firm staff
- Lead client preparation sessions
- Appear and present cases at Individual Hearings, virtually when possible
- Conduct 30-minute immigration consultations as part of client intake
- Training on firm consultation procedures will be provided
- Compensation provided for consultations resulting in retained cases
- Payment is provided on a per-task basis for completed hearings, interviews, and consultations.
- Independent contractor relationship (1099); no salary or hourly compensation
The ideal candidate is experienced in asylum litigation, capable of managing matters efficiently in a high-volume environment, and comfortable collaborating remotely while delivering professional client representation before USCIS and Immigration Court.
