What We Are Looking ForWe are seeking an attorney with employment law expertise to join our in-house legal team. This role will assist senior employment law counsel in providing legal advice and support to our various business lines and entities in the United States on a wide range of employment law matters. The successful candidate will play a vital role in protecting the company’s interests, mitigating legal risks, and fostering a positive and respectful work environment.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of employment laws across the United States and have a proven track record of providing advice and counsel on complex employment law issues.
The position will support senior employment law counsel and provide advice and counseling to various stakeholders. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Human Resources and management teams related to hiring, performance management, discipline, employment classification, benefits, employee relations, terminations, and immigration matters;
- Collaborating and supporting Human Resources and compliance personnel on the development, implementation, and maintenance of employment policies, procedures, and best practices that comply with applicable laws and regulations;
- Monitoring changes in employment laws and regulations at both the federal and state level (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, and OSHA) and providing guidance on their impact on the organization’s policies and practices;
- Drafting various legal documents, including employment contracts, severance agreements, restrictive covenants, and confidentiality agreements;
- Reviewing and analyzing various legal documents and providing guidance to the organization with regard to employment contracts, restrictive covenants, and confidentiality agreements;
- Assisting with or conducting training sessions for employees and management teams on employment law topics, ensuring awareness and compliance with company policies and current legal requirements;
- Conducting or overseeing internal workplace investigations; and
- Providing advice and guidance with regard to employee leave situations and accommodation requests.
The role may also involve assisting in-house counsel with active employment litigation, including responding to discovery requests, conducting legal research, and managing and reviewing documents.
Skills and Experience That Will Lead to SuccessCandidates must hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and maintain active membership in good standing with a state bar association or other state licensing organization. Candidates must possess 4-8 years of experience practicing employment law, preferably with a focus on corporate employment law, either in private practice or in-house. Additional qualifications include:
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles to practical business situations;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal professionals;
