Legal Assistant – Personal Injury / Workers’ Compensation (Remote)
Schedule:
8AM-5PM PT
Compensation: $24-$30/hr, based on experience
OverviewSeeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation cases from intake through resolution. This role supports attorneys and paralegals with both pre-litigation and litigation case management.
Ideal candidate is organized, client‑focused, and comfortable handling medical records, filings, and frequent communication with clients, providers, and insurance carriers.
Key Responsibilities Case Management- Open and maintain electronic client files.
- Draft legal documents (correspondence, pleadings, discovery, settlement packages).
- Calendar deadlines, hearings, depositions, and medical appointments.
- Track statutes of limitations and court deadlines.
- Provide client case updates and collect documentation.
- Coordinate with medical providers for records and billing.
- Communicate with adjusters and opposing counsel (as directed).
- Schedule IMEs, mediations, depositions, hearings, and appointments.
- Request and review medical records and bills.
- Organize medical chronologies and expense summaries.
- Track lien information and assist with lien resolution.
- Prepare demand packages for insurance carriers.
- Maintain case notes in case management software.
- E-file with courts and workers’ comp boards.
- Assist with new client intake and conflict checks.
- 2+ years Legal Assistant experience (PI and/or Workers’ Comp).
- Understanding of pre‑litigation and litigation workflows.
- Medical record retrieval and review experience.
- Court e‑filing experience.
- Microsoft Office + case management software proficiency.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Workers’ Comp board procedure experience.
- Lien resolution knowledge (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance).
- Bilingual Spanish (client base dependent).
- Attention to detail.
- Strong client service mindset.
- Time management and prioritization.
