Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Patent Attorney or Patent Agent with a minimum of 2 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in electrical and mechanical engineering, combined with hands‑on experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. This role is also available as a 1099 Of‑Counsel position.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and prosecute patent applications for clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Counsel clients on IP protection strategies, including patentability, freedom‑to‑operate, and IP litigation.
- Evaluate foreign office actions and instruct foreign affiliates in preparing and filing responses to office actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to support innovation and protect intellectual property.
- Stay current with developments in IP law, including changes to patent regulations and best practices.
- USPTO registration number and, for attorneys, a J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
- A technical degree (B.S., M.S., or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing patent law, with a focus on patent preparation and prosecution.
- Strong understanding of U.S. patent law and the patent application process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage a case load, and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
- Detail‑oriented, with the ability to handle complex technical and legal issues.
- Competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $140,000, based on experience.
