ScopeWe are seeking an experienced Bodily Injury Attorney in the Houston, TX area who can work remotely. The role involves representing the company in legal matters, managing claims, providing expert legal advice, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will work closely with the claims department to mitigate risk, negotiate settlements, and actively participate in mediation, arbitration, and settlement discussions.
Duties- Manage and litigate bodily injury and some property damage claims, including first‑party property claims, subrogation, and bad faith litigation.
- Represent the company in all phases of litigation—from pre‑suit investigations to trial and post‑trial activities.
- Develop case strategies, draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
- Provide expert legal advice to the claims department, management, and other internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations during the claims process.
- Advise on legal risk related to policy interpretations, claims settlements, and potential exposure.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of the company in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Conduct thorough legal research on property damage, insurance laws, and Texas regulations, including recent court decisions.
- Prepare clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents such as briefs, memoranda, and opinions.
- Stay current with changes in insurance and bodily injury/property damage laws in Texas.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures to minimize legal exposure and maximize operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the claims department, adjusters, and other legal teams to provide proactive and responsive legal support.
- Communicate complex legal concepts and strategies to non‑legal personnel clearly and effectively.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Texas Bar and good standing.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of insurance laws and regulations.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective strategies.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in personal injury law, with a focus on automobile accidents.
- Strong litigation experience with trial skills preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, oral advocacy, and legal writing skills.
- Ability to handle a high volume of cases and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in case management software, legal research tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Highly tech‑savvy with demonstrated proficiency in legal technology and digital litigation tools.
- Advanced proficiency in case management systems, electronic document management platforms, and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis Nexis).
