Job Description

Attorney Research Position (1 year term) – Transportation Division (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Attorney General Brenna Bird seeks to fill a Research and Writing position in the Transportation Division of her office for a Special Project in coordination with the Research & Analytics Bureau of the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa County Engineers Association Service Bureau.
The successful candidate will lead a project to research, update, revise, and digitize the Iowa Transportation Law Manual, last published in 1995. This manual serves as a critical reference tool for state agencies, counties, and municipal governments. The project will be completed under the supervision of the Transportation Section Chief and will require strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
RequirementsCandidates must have a passion for public service and possess exceptional skills in statutory construction, administrative law and legal research and writing. This position requires a license, or the ability to obtain a license, to practice law in Iowa. The most competitive applicants will have practiced law for fewer than five years and served on a law review.
