Location: 100% Remote (Anywhere in Nova Scotia)
Job Type: Full-Time
Total Target Compensation: $100,000 – $140,000+
Resolute Legal is a national law firm built on a singular mission: to level the playing field for everyday people against powerful institutions. We exclusively represent individuals in employment and disability disputes, never acting for employers or insurance companies. We are the firm for the underdog, dedicated to securing justice for workers who have been wrongfully dismissed or denied the benefits they rely on.
To achieve these results, we have moved away from the traditional law firm model that relies on rigid hierarchies and unnecessary formalities. We are a modern, tech-forward company that has done away with the mahogany walls and the culture of burnout in favour of a 100% remote-first environment. We believe you do your best work when you have the autonomy to work from where you live and the flexibility to balance your career with your personal life.
Forget everything you hate about private practice. At Resolute Legal, we have removed the things that burn lawyers out:
- No Billable Hour Pressure: We operate strictly on contingency and fixed fees. While we do track time internally for file management, you will never have to chase an arbitrary annual hour target, worry about write-offs, or justify a 0.2-hour phone call to a client again. We reward efficiency and results, not hours at a desk.
- Performance-Based Pay: You earn a base salary plus a significant bonus based directly on the revenue you generate.
- No Commute: We are a 100% remote firm. Your office is wherever you say it is in Nova Scotia.
We Hire for Attitude and Train for Skill
We are seeking a Lawyer to join our litigation team. This is a 100% Plaintiff-side role. We never represent employers. Your focus will be exclusively on Employment Law (Wrongful Dismissal, Constructive Dismissal, and Human Rights).
Walk into a Full Practice (No “Rainmaking” Required)You do not need to bring a book of business. You will assume a full, active caseload on Day 1. Our firm has a robust marketing team that generates a steady stream of new clients every week. Your job is to advocate for these clients and move their files to resolution—not to chase down new business.
Don’t have employment law experience? That’s okay.We can teach you the law. What we can’t teach is the fire in your belly to fight for the underdog. If you are a litigator (or an aspiring one) who wants to help real people rebuild their lives after a job loss, we will provide the mentorship and systems you need to become an expert in this field.
Compensation:Stability + Unlimited Upside
We list a Total Compensation range of $100,000 – $140,000+ because our model is designed for high performers to significantly out-earn their base salary.
- We provide a competitive base salary range ($65,000 – $85,000) commensurate with your experience to ensure financial security.
- Unlike discretionary bonuses, our system is transparent. You earn a share of the revenue you generate above your annual target.
- We cover all marketing, intake, and overhead costs. Your bonus is pure income.
- A lawyer running a full caseload efficiently should expect their total annual compensation (Base + Bonus) to fall between $100,000 and $140,000. There is no cap on your earning potential—high performers can double their base salary.
- Values First: You must be passionate about plaintiff-side representation. We want someone who gets satisfaction from standing up to large corporations and institutions on behalf of regular workers.
- Bar Admission
:
You must be a member in good standing (or eligible for immediate call) of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. (
Note:
This position is not open to articling clerks or paralegals). - Litigation Interest: You don’t need to be a seasoned trial lawyer, but you must have a genuine interest in litigation, negotiation, and advocacy.
- The “Closer” Mindset: Since we do not bill by the hour, we need lawyers who are driven to move existing files forward and reach resolutions efficiently.
A lawyer who feels out of place in a traditional firm. Maybe you are tired of the downtown Halifax grind, insurance defence, or management-side politics. Or maybe you are finishing your articles are are looking for a new firm. If you have the drive to fight for the “little guy,” we have the platform for you to succeed.
