Our full-service law firm in Brantford is growing, and we are looking for a Corporate/Estate Planning Law Clerk to join our team. At our firm, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration while also giving you space to work independently. This role offers the opportunity to work with two lawyers on a variety of corporate and estate planning files.
This is a primarily in-office role, with some flexibility to work from home. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Who We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking individuals with experience in corporate/estate planning law. If you’re detail oriented and highly organized, with some experience in a law firm environment, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with estate planning matters including initial preparation of documents, file maintenance, etc.
- Assist with corporate law matters including in corporations, acquisitions, dissolutions, amendments, and reorganizations, by preparing and filing forms, coordinating signings, assembling and maintaining minute books
- Client Communication & Coordination:
Schedule meetings, assist in collecting and forwarding documents, follow up on outstanding information, and provide status updates to clients. - File Management:
Open, maintain, and organize electronic and physical files. - Docketing & Billing:
Assist with time tracking, account preparation, and general billing processes. - General Administrative Support:
Provide general office support to lawyers and clerks (20+ staff) as needed with scanning, photocopying, filing, mailing, and organizing physical and electronic files.
Required:
- Any prior Experience as a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite programs (word, excel, teams, outlook)
- Excellent communication and client service skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with corporate/commercial law and/or estate planning.
- Familiarity with legal software such as LEAP, Appara, Ontario Business Registry, Adobe Acrobat, Pactima.
- Legal Assistant Certificate, Law Clerk Certificate, Bachelor Degree in Paralegal Studies, Administration, or other relevant education.
