Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Employment Law Attorney licensed in New York to join our team on a contract basis. The role focuses on providing employment law guidance to growing companies, with emphasis on the unique challenges of scaling organizations in today's business environment. Our clients range from innovative startups to established companies requiring sophisticated employment counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on employee classification and compensation structures
- Draft and review employment agreements and policies
- Develop employee handbooks and workplace policies
- Structure equity compensation and stock option plans
- Create contractor and consulting agreements
- Handle employment aspects of corporate transactions
- Guide remote work and multi-state employment compliance
- Advise on terminations, layoffs, and restructurings
- Provide harassment and discrimination prevention guidance
- Ensure wage and hour compliance
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active attorney license in New York
- 5+ years of employment law experience
- Big Law training/experience strongly preferred
- Experience advising growth-stage companies
- Deep knowledge of NY employment laws
- Understanding of equity compensation
- Multi-state employment law experience
- Experience with remote workforce issues
- Employment agreement drafting
- Equity compensation structuring
- Employee handbook development
- Workplace policy creation
- Classification analysis
- Compliance training programs
- Employment litigation prevention
- Competitive Pay: $80 - $150 per billable hour based on experience.
