Our San Diego Divorce and Family Law firm is looking for a Full‑Time Family Law Paralegal to lead our legal support team. The position requires at least 7 years of recent experience in family law, a Paralegal Certificate, and a proven track record of managing caseloads and meeting deadlines.
We are located in Mission Valley, San Diego. Hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is not a work‑from‑home position.
Paid $35–$38 per hour ($72,800–$79,000 per year).
Responsibilities- Primary resource for legal support staff on procedural and case‑related production questions.
- Provide level one guidance on case strategy, filing requirements, and deadlines.
- Use reports and case review meetings to ensure clients and matters move through the workflow pipeline on time.
- Onboard new paralegals and legal assistants, providing ongoing education and training (e.g., review/update procedures, monthly lunch and learns).
- Perform administrative duties such as answering client phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized.
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence under the guidance of an attorney.
- Prepare initial drafts of financial disclosures for attorney review.
- Assist lawyers in trial preparation: organize exhibits, file motions, coordinate witnesses, and support client meetings.
- Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems.
- Track and calculate progress on all deliverables to meet deadlines.
- Manage, organize, and analyze discovery and records.
- Review and prepare all financial disclosures and statements.
- Keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible.
- Create various legal papers, letters, declarations, and pleadings such as correspondence, petition/response pleadings, and financial disclosures.
- Support attorneys with legal research, drafting memos, pleadings, motions, and orders, and preparing for hearings and trials under their direction.
- Adhere to the firm’s standardization of work product and internal processes; if not open to adapting, do not apply.
- Detail‑oriented and organized.
- Sound judgment, adaptable, and collaborative.
- Tech‑savvy with excellent interpersonal and time‑management skills.
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a family law paralegal supporting multiple attorneys.
- Bill at least 1300 hours per year, tracked quarterly.
- Completed an ABA‑approved paralegal certificate program (associate degree or proprietary paralegal studies).
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or substantial work experience in law firm project and process management.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is an advantage.
- Must have a Paralegal Certificate; if you do not have one, please do not apply.
- Experience with standardizing workflows and internal processes is highly desirable.
