Role DescriptionThe Senior Associate will handle a diverse caseload of family law matters, including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, alimony, and domestic violence proceedings. Responsibilities include managing cases from intake through resolution, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements, and appearing in court for conferences, motion hearings, and trials as needed. The Senior Associate will conduct client consultations, provide ongoing legal advice, and develop case strategies aligned with clients’ goals.
This full-time hybrid role is based in Gloucester County, NJ, with a combination of in-office work and the flexibility to work from home for certain responsibilities such as drafting, research, and virtual meetings. The position also involves mentoring junior team members, coordinating with support staff, and contributing to firm development through networking and professional activities.
- Licensed attorney in good standing with the New Jersey Bar; several years of substantive family law experience handling divorce, custody, and support matters.
- Strong litigation skills, including courtroom advocacy, motion practice, negotiation, and experience with mediation or alternative dispute resolution.
- Exceptional legal research and writing abilities, with proficiency in drafting clear, persuasive pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
- Excellent client relationship skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly, manage expectations, and work with clients facing emotional and sensitive situations.
- Well-developed organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple matters, meet deadlines, and handle a robust caseload independently.
- Comfort with legal technology, case management software, virtual hearings, and remote collaboration tools.
- Commitment to ethical practice, professionalism, and maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of representation.
- Trial experience and prior work in a family-law-focused firm are strongly preferred; mentoring or supervisory experience is a plus.
