Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney | Remote

Overview

We're hiring experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorneys for a well-established California defence firm with over 30 years of exclusive WC practice. The firm is in active growth mode, expanding its attorney team to handle increasing claim volume across the state. You'll manage a full caseload of WC defence matters from inception to resolution, representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators before the WCAB.

The firm operates a fully paperless, remote-first environment with digital case management and dictation software provided. The firm offers a collaborative billing model and a clear promotion track from Associate through to Senior Managing Partner.

This role suits attorneys who have built their career in California workers' compensation defence and want to do the same work in a modern, remote-first firm that rewards production and invests in growth.

• Manage a full caseload of workers' compensation defence matters from inception to resolution.
• Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators before the WCAB.
• Attend hearings (MSCs, status conferences, lien conferences, trials); take doctor depositions; draft motions and settlement documents; negotiate resolutions.
• Maintain regular communication with adjusters and employer contacts.
• Operate within a fully paperless environment using digital case management and dictation software.

• Active California Bar license (mandatory).
• 1.5+ years of dedicated California workers' compensation defence experience.
• Comfortable managing a high-volume caseload independently in a remote setting.
• Experience attending WCAB hearings, including MSCs, status conferences, and trials.
• Doctor deposition experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient with digital workflows, dictation software, and paperless case management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-facing disposition.
• Fast and reliable internet connection; a quiet working environment suitable for remote legal work.

• $100,000 to $220,000 USD base salary depending on experience.
• Quarterly performance bonuses (up to $52,000/year via collaborative billing model).
• Bar dues and CLEs covered.
• All equipment provided (laptop, monitors, keyboard).
• Access to eight California office locations if preferred (Agoura Hills, Oxnard, Encino, Inland Empire, Long Beach, Orange County, Sacramento/Roseville, San Diego).
