Job Description:We are seeking a Workers' Compensation Defense Associate with 2-5 years of experience. Opportunities and responsibilities for qualified individuals include:
- Managing a litigation case load under an assigned Mentor with the opportunity to work with others in the firm
- Our in-house skills training program, including handling of cases start-to-finish, conducting depositions, etc. consistent with your level of prior experience
- Handling depositions of medical experts and witnesses
- Working closely with the client to complete a thorough investigation of the claim
- Online legal research using West Next
- Negotiating cases with opposing counsel
- Direct hands-on in all stages of litigation, including pre-trials, trials, and appeals
- Involvement in a variety of non-litigation collaborations and projects
- Maintaining and developing relationships with a wide variety of clients, from major corporations and large municipalities to small businesses and public entities
To excel in this role, candidates must possess:
- A valid Illinois law license in good standing with the bar.
- Exceptional professionalism and communication skills.
- Proficiency in research and writing.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and independently while meeting deadlines.
- Superior interpersonal and client management skills.
- Impeccable organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent time management capabilities.
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $100,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience plus the potential for quarterly bonuses, and we provide a comprehensive benefits package.
This Associate will start initially in-office in Chicago, Northbrook or Champaign with hybrid work from home to be allowed following initial onboarding and training at the discretion of the firm. The arrangement will also depend on the progression of the new associate’s skills and our confidence in the quality of their work.
