Position: Juvenile Dependency Attorney II/III/IV*

Juvenile Dependency Attorney

Priority Review

Recruitment Bonus

Newly hired employees from this recruitment may be eligible to receive bonus payments up to $3,000.

Salary Increases

Employees are eligible for merit-based step increases within the salary range, up to the maximum step. Refer to the Exempt Employee Ordinance for details.

Flexible Schedule

Attorneys may have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule after six months of employment, which may include a 9/80 schedule and/or partial remote work option.

Loan Forgiveness

  • Deputy County Counsel II (Juvenile Dependency Attorney II): $ – $ annually
  • Deputy County Counsel III (Juvenile Dependency Attorney III): $ – $ annually
  • Deputy County Counsel IV (Juvenile Dependency Attorney IV): $ – $ annually

Conditions of Employment
  • Background:
    Must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, prior to appointment.
  • Travel:
    Must travel throughout the County as required.
  • Sponsorship:
    Not open to visa sponsorship applicants.
  • License:
    Must hold an active State Bar of California license in good standing.
Experience Requirements
  • Juvenile Dependency Attorney IV: 48 months experience as an attorney, of which 36 months must involve juvenile dependency cases.
  • Juvenile Dependency Attorney III: 30 months experience as an attorney, of which 18 months must involve juvenile dependency cases.
  • Juvenile Dependency Attorney II: 12 months experience handling juvenile dependency cases.

Note:

Experience as a Juvenile Dependency Attorney includes experience as County Counsel, Minor's Counsel, or Parent's Counsel. Experience handling juvenile cases in San Bernardino County Dependency Court is highly desirable.
