Encino, California | Hybrid / Remote Available for the Right Candidate
Waterkotte Mullis Moreno & Garles, PC is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join our Encino office. We are looking for an attorney with approximately 5–10+ years of substantive California civil litigation experience who can independently manage an active caseload from inception through resolution.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants meaningful responsibility, sophisticated litigation work, and the flexibility of a firm that values good judgment and results over unnecessary bureaucracy. A remote arrangement is available for the right candidate.
What You’ll DoThe successful candidate will handle all aspects of civil litigation, including:
- Independently managing cases from initial evaluation through trial or settlement
- Developing case strategy and providing thoughtful exposure and settlement evaluations
- Drafting and arguing dispositive and other substantive motions
- Taking and defending party, witness, expert, and PMQ depositions
- Managing written discovery and discovery disputes
- Retaining and working with experts
- Preparing matters for mediation and participating in settlement negotiations
- Making court appearances and handling law and motion matters
- Preparing cases for trial and, depending on experience, serving as trial counsel
- Communicating directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and other professionals
Candidates should have:
- Minimum 5 years of California civil litigation experience; 5–10+ years preferred
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
- Strong experience handling cases with limited supervision
- Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing skills
- Meaningful deposition and law-and-motion experience
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines across an active caseload
- Sound judgment regarding liability, damages, litigation strategy, and settlement
- Professional and effective communication with clients and opposing counsel
- Trial experience is strongly preferred but not required
Experience in personal injury, premises liability, construction litigation, general negligence, catastrophic injury, and insurance defense is particularly valuable.

The position is based in our Encino office
, with flexibility for a remote position for the right candidate. Candidates working remotely must be able to effectively handle California litigation, court appearances, depositions, mediations, and trials as required.
Compensation: $150,000–$200,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to independently manage complex civil litigation matters. Performance-based bonus opportunities are available in addition to base compensation.
