Early Career Trial Attorney

• Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict
• Conduct initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions
• Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
• Conduct legal research on laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents
• Interview clients and witnesses; draft statement summaries and maintain communication records
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings; represent the company or clients in routine matters as needed
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations and update the legal team on potential impacts
• Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs
• Provide legal opinions to claims clients
• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath and prepare summary documents
• Provide counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams

• Juris Doctorate
• Active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar
• Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis
• Ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents
• Strong time management skills while balancing multiple tasks and deadlines
• Ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process
• Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions
• Knowledge of legal ethics and standards of professional conduct
• Fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, Lexis Nexis, Team Connect, internet research tools, and legal case management software
• Must be able to attend court in Northern Virginia
• Successful completion of a background investigation
