The Legal Counsel will be a key member of the legal team, reporting to the General Counsel. The successful candidate will work closely with various business groups and will be directly involved in complex business transactions including negotiating project subcontracts, supplier contracts, providing contract management support, HR support, as well as support of all other departments. The Legal Counsel role is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves position within a legal department currently comprised of three attorneys.

The position will be on site at our headquarters in Westborough, MA, with the ability to work from home up to two days per week after an initial onboarding period.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project execution, procurement and other contracting activities: review, draft and negotiate subcontracts, supply contracts, and manage various related operational issues.
• Provide legal guidance to our Grid Integration and Risk Management team; review and edit change orders, contract amendments, notices, etc.
• Draft, negotiate and track all NDAs (proforma and customer templates); advise all teams on confidentiality matters.
• While dealing with complex, significant matters that cut across legal, commercial and technical areas, evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of decisions or course of action on the business.
• Provide general in-house legal support to all function groups of the company under the guidance of the General Counsel
• Deal with external parties (customers, supply chain, outside counsel, etc.).

Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attitudes

The position requires:

• A true team player who is humble, hungry, resourceful and able to adapt to a dynamic workload and re-prioritize tasks as needed.
• Overall broad legal knowledge in the field of contracting; experience with projects involving renewable energy or in other relevant industries (including construction, equipment supply contracts, subcontracts and the like) is a plus.
