THE POSITION

The Office of General Counsel is seeking a highly motivated individual within the Department of State Legal Office to supervise the Prosecution Division Legal Assistants, including assignment management, training, and ensuring operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

This position oversees and supports the work of Legal Assistant staff to ensure that legal and administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time. The role focuses on leadership, coordination, and quality control of office operations. As a Legal Assistant Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision:
    Direct staff in daily work, including training, guidance, and oversight of procedures
  • Work Assignment:
    Assign tasks that support timely and accurate completion of division responsibilities
  • Quality Review:
    Review completed work for accuracy and required follow up
  • Policy Management:
    Maintain manuals, procedures, and staff performance standards
  • Operational Evaluation:
    Assess workflow effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Attorney Support:
    Assist attorneys with projects, filings, and administrative tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after six months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary:
    Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Legal Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including two years of legal clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
