PEABODY & BUCCINI LLP is a Southern California-based civil litigation firm representing healthcare providers in the defense of healthcare related claims as well as injured parties in general negligence lawsuits and those with general business contractual issues. Representative clients include large hospital chains, the largest medical insurers in the United States, mutual insurance companies, medical trusts, medical groups, government entities, individual physicians, healthcare providers and other injured individuals. Cases are accepted throughout California.

Role Description The Litigation Paralegal will support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, including expert retention, discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include obtaining records and depositions via subpoena, drafting and formatting legal documents, organizing case files and exhibits, managing deadlines and court calendars, and coordinating communication with experts, courts, and opposing counsel. The role involves conducting legal research, assisting with pleadings and motions, and preparing materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.

This is a full-time, position based in Encinitas, CA, with a combination of in-office work and some work-from-home flexibility. The Litigation Paralegal will collaborate closely with attorneys and staff to ensure accurate, timely, and professional case support.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in legal document preparation and document review.
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in legal research, including citation checking and fact investigation.
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in drafting and formatting pleadings and motions.
  • Candidates should possess strong organizational, case management, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with litigation support software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • Prior litigation paralegal experience in California courts is highly preferred.
