Position OverviewA well-established law firm in Melville, NY is seeking a dynamic, organized, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join its team. This position will support attorneys across a variety of practice areas, including real estate, trusts and estates, corporate law, litigation, and more
.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working with several attorneys, maintaining confidential information, and ensuring deadlines and legal filings are handled accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities- Assist attorneys with organizing files, maintaining calendars, tracking deadlines, and coordinating meetings.
- Create, format, revise, scan, email, and distribute legal documents and correspondence.
- Manage and organize electronic legal files through the firm's document management system, including iManage
. - Answer and route telephone calls while maintaining professional communication with clients, attorneys, courts, and outside parties.
- Schedule meetings, appointments, and conference calls.
- Support litigation matters through document review, case-file maintenance, and accurate electronic court filings
. - Maintain accurate and confidential client and matter records.
- Assist with administrative functions, including learning accounts payable and billing procedures to provide backup coverage when needed.
- Provide general administrative and legal support to multiple attorneys and practice groups.
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Paralegal within a law firm environment.
- Experience supporting multiple practice areas, preferably including real estate, trusts and estates, corporate law, and litigation
. - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
. - Experience with iManage or a similar document management system is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and legal processes across different jurisdictions.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and support multiple attorneys while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Must be a Notary Public or willing to obtain a Notary license after hire.
- Willingness to learn accounts payable and billing functions for backup and redundancy purposes.
The salary range for this position is $65,000-$85,000
, depending on experience. This is primarily an in-office position in Melville, NY
, with occasional spontaneous work-from-home days offered by the firm.
