Role Description

The Immigration Paralegal will provide day-to-day support to attorneys handling immigration matters in a part-time capacity. This hybrid role is based in Farmington Hills, MI, with a combination of in-office work and some work-from-home flexibility. Key responsibilities include preparing and organizing immigration petitions and applications, gathering and reviewing client documentation, and maintaining accurate case files. The role involves drafting legal forms and supporting documents for visas and other immigration benefits, tracking case deadlines, and communicating with clients about required information and case status.

The Immigration Paralegal will also assist with legal research on immigration issues and coordinate with attorneys to ensure timely and compliant filings.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess a solid foundation in law and legal processes, with prior paralegal or legal assistant experience preferred.
  • Candidates should possess skills related to immigration law and immigration issues, including familiarity with relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Candidates should possess experience working with visas and related immigration benefits, including preparation and tracking of applications.
  • Candidates should possess strong legal document preparation skills, including drafting, reviewing, and organizing forms and supporting evidence.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with common office software, case management or document management systems, and secure handling of confidential information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff, interact professionally with clients from diverse backgrounds, and adapt to a hybrid work environment.
  • Paralegal certificate, relevant coursework in law or immigration, or equivalent experience is beneficial; prior experience in an immigration law firm is a plus.
