Associate Counsel - Hackensack, NJ; Remote

For our client, we are seeking a Associate Counsel - Hackensack, NJ (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will support insurance defense litigation matters and provide practical legal guidance to internal claims partners on liability, damages, and claim value issues. The position combines hands-on litigation work with advisory responsibilities, requiring close collaboration with claims professionals and external counsel as matters progress through pleadings, discovery, hearings, and trial. The ideal candidate will bring strong New Jersey insurance litigation experience and the ability to manage files, deadlines, and case strategy in a fast-paced environment.

Location:

Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $118,900 – $186,550 annually

• Research applicable laws and draft legal briefs and opinions
• Advise the Claims Department on liability, damages, and value issues
• Handle pleadings, motions, and discovery processes
• Defend legal matters in trials or hearings
• Attend trials, depositions, and management meetings as required

• 2 to 6+ years of experience in insurance defense or personal injury litigation
• Juris Doctor degree
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar
• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and in good standing
• Ability to travel as needed for trials and hearings
• Ability to document files professionally and with clarity
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
