The Associate Attorney will handle medical malpractice defense litigation matters from inception through resolution, including case evaluation, drafting pleadings, motion practice, discovery, court appearances, and trial preparation. Daily responsibilities include analyzing medical and legal issues, reviewing medical records, interviewing witnesses, collaborating with medical experts, and developing case strategies in consultation with partners. The attorney will also communicate with clients, participate in settlement discussions, and contribute to risk management and litigation avoidance strategies.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Staten Island, NY, with the ability to perform some work from home as approved by firm leadership.

• Licensed to practice law in New York; in good standing with the NY Bar (additional admissions are a plus).
• Experience in medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, or related civil litigation; judicial clerkship experience is beneficial.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery demands.
• Litigation skills such as taking and defending depositions, negotiating settlements, conducting hearings, and assisting with trial preparation.
• Ability to review and interpret medical records, collaborate with medical experts, and understand complex medical issues.
• Excellent organizational and case management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple matters and meet deadlines.
• Clear, professional communication skills for client counseling, team collaboration, and interaction with courts and opposing counsel.
• Commitment to ethical practice, attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to client representation.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, including reliable remote work setup and consistent in-office presence in Staten Island, NY.
