This position is remote, with the option to work from our Dubai office (with 0% income tax), if preferred (relocation and visa sponsorship support available).

Puffy, a market-leading, nine-figure D2C brand and Top 5 US mattress brand with over $1 billion in sales, is hiring a General Counsel to own the in-house legal function across three distinct work streams with full authority over consumer-facing compliance, fund documentation and custody protocols, cross-border asset structuring, and outside counsel relationships, reporting directly to the CEO. This role exists to convert legal exposure into documented, managed risk before it reaches the business, building the audit cadence, compliance systems, and counter party controls that let a Top 5 e-commerce brand, a family office, and multi-jurisdictional structuring run without day-to-day executive involvement.

This is not a role where you review contracts someone else negotiated and wait for matters to be assigned to you. The scope is scarce: very few General Counsel get simultaneous authority over a Top 5 D2C brand's consumer-facing legal surfaces, a family office deploying capital into hedge funds, cross-border structuring across multiple international jurisdictions, and a direct line to the CEO with no layers in between.

build the Monthly Legal Exposure Audit into the operating rhythm of the business. Run Quarterly Compliance Sweeps across checkout flows, terms of service, arbitration clauses, pricing, and FTC endorsement guidelines against current federal and state regulation. Negotiate hedge fund subscription agreements, side letters, and LP terms before capital is deployed. Stand up Quarterly Fund Documentation Reviews across subscriptions, custody arrangements, loan covenants, and counter party protocols.

• You decide how consumer protection risk is managed across a Top 5 DTC brand, what a fund subscription looks like before capital moves, and how assets are structured across international jurisdictions. You manage outside counsel across all three domains rather than being managed by them. Nothing routes through a general counsel above you, because there isn't one.
• You operate as the sole legal resource and set the operating standard yourself: a written monthly exposure memo covering every active matter, deadline, and risk across all three work streams, delivered to the CEO. You act on what you see, not on what you're told to look at.
