Benefits Associate

My client is a leading benefits, retirement, and healthcare law practice with deep expertise in sophisticated employee benefits matters and a collaborative, collegial environment. The platform provides attorneys with exposure to complex tax and executive compensation work supporting plan sponsors.

The role focuses on compliance matters involving non-qualified deferred compensation and executive compensation programs subject to Section 409A, with additional exposure to qualified retirement plans including 401(k), profit-sharing, defined benefit, and cash balance plans.

• Advise on non-qualified deferred compensation and executive compensation compliance
• Analyze Section 409A requirements and related tax issues
• Support qualified retirement plan matters, including 401(k), profit-sharing, defined benefit, and cash balance plans
• Conduct legal research and provide analytical support on employee benefits and tax matters
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and plan sponsor clients

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, Tax LLM is advantageous
• 4-7 years of relevant executive compensation experience
• Admitted to practice in District Columbia
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent legal research and writing abilities
• Strong academic credentials
• Above market comp:
  Expected salary range $240k - $440k
